Heart of the network of Limoges Public Libraries, the city center main library known as the « Bibliothèque francophone multimédia (Bfm)» opened in 1998. Labellized by the Ministry of Culture as a «municipal library with a regional vocation », associated with the National Library in the field of Francophone theatre and poetry, the Bfm is a major cultural centre of more than 14800 sq. metres, well known for its architecture, whether in France or abroad.
Limoges remains the only city of more than 100 000 inhabitants in France where registration and loans are free in all the public libraries.
Connected by optical fibre to the main site, the five branch libraries offer an access to the whole collection of the network, through a system of daily shuttle which allows reservation, transfer and return of the documents to and from any library.
Whether you are planning to discover Limoges or a permanent resident in Limousin, please feel free to visit us at the Bfm. Access to the city libraries (the main library downtown and the five branches in Limoges) and their services are totally free of charge.
If you wish to borrow documents or use the « ateliers multimédia » (IT workshops, in the main library or in Bastide and Beaubreuil branch libraries) to collect your e-mails or surf the web, you will only need a bibliopasse (library card) which you can get from the information office in each library.
The Bfm is a member of the Welcome-en-Limousin network.
